Feb.  7,1854  William Hooks bought for $1,312 from Jesse T. Regi-
              ster, admr. John H. Weaver Estate, Lots 181, half
              of 194 (Deed Bk. K, pgs. 260-1)
Oct. 30,1908  W.L. English & W.W. Dykes bought for $9,000 from 
              Thos. B. Hooks, Lots 215, 194, east half 181 bound-
              ed north by Thos. B. Hooks' & Bob Sams', east by 
              Stanford's & Frazier's, south by Mrs. M.J. Adams 
              Estate, west by "...Phillemy Creek and public road 
              leading from Americus to and directly by the M.J. 
              Adams place, said West line commencing at a point 
              where said creek crosses the Northern line of lot 
              No. 181, the creek being the line where it crosses 
              said public road at the old dam of the Hooks Mill 
              Pond, and said public road, being the line from 
              there to the M.J. Adams place; containing in all 
              500 acres..." (Deed Bk. JJ, pg. 78)
Oct.  7,1909  Mrs. Jessie L. Mathis bought for $9,500 from Thomas
              B. Hooks, Lots 160 (216.1 acres), 147 (95.5 acres),
              181 "...lying west of the middle of the run of 
              Phillemy Creek...also...east of said creek, bounded
              as follows:  on the North by the public road, on 
              the east by the plantation road, and on the south 
              by the south line of said lot, and on the west by
              Phillemy Creek...(102 acres)" (Deed Bk. JJ, pg. 340)
June 19,1928  Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Co. bought for $5,000
              from itself (Thos. B. Hooks, Jr. failed payment on
              loan Nov. 1,1927), Lots 161, 180 (73 acres), 162 
              (30 acres), 181 (15 acres) "...with the exception 
              of one (1) acre on which is located a colored church 
              and graveyard known as New Corinth..." (Deed Bk. 9,
              pgs. 592-3)
June 24,1941  Russell Thomas & Carroll B. Austin bought for $4,000
              from Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Co., above lands
              (Deed Bk. 26, pg. 251)
Oct. __,1948  Russell Thomas & Carroll B. Austin deeded for $1
              "...and for church purposes...", to Deacons Johnnie 
              Ball, Tom Townsley, Reed Hoston, Sr., Reed Hoston, 
              Jr., Freddie Denson, Warren Ingram, 6 acres, "...
              generally known and designated as the New Corinth 
              Baptist (Colored) Church and Cemetery grounds and 
              are used for that purpose.  Should the above con-
              veyed lands be abandoned for Church and Cemetery
              purposes, then and in that event, said conveyed 
              lands are to revert to the grantors herein, their
              heirs and assigns..." (Deed Bk. 39, pg. 325)
