4/29/1908 Speer Home is Leased to Family for Time - Mr. D.A. Carter of Atlanta, and his son-in-law, Mr. Leslie Riley of Arlington, with their respective families, will come to Americus to reside in May, the two families numbering eight people. Mr. Carter is a former resident and brother of Messrs. J.N. and W.C. Carter. They have leased the residence of Mrs. Laura C. Speer, corner Church and Jackson..., for the summer, as Mrs. Speer expects to be away the greater portion of the season.
10/23/1908 Leslie - Mr. Leon Tinsley died Tuesday night of typhoid fever at the home of his sister, Mrs. Luther Glaze. He was buried here this evening.; DeSoto - Mrs. John L. Ferguson went to Americus Monday to attend the funeral of her brother, William A. Cobb.

12/31/1914 FUNERAL SERVICES OF MRS. E.A. SPEER - Mrs. Armantine Thomas Speer, wife of Eustace A. Speer, died, Monday night (Dec. 28th) after a lingering illness of two years' duration. Pneumonia was the immediate cause of her death...She is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Thomas, one sister, Miss Isabelle Thomas and six children, James, Robert, William, Eustace, Francis and Elizabeth Speer.; Leslie - Mr. Alva Speer, of Ochlochnee, Ga., visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Bass, Jr. and Miss Jane Mundy spent yesterday in Griffin, where they attended the Spalding Centennial celebration. Their son, Spud Bass, Jr., participated in the parade. He was one of 28 boys representing the U.S.N.A.S. of Atlanta.
