Edward Hawkins purchased land at public auction
from trustee Daniel S. Bagley trustee of Elizabeth B. Mason
303 1/4 acres price $2175.00 [Note: this is the same land mentioned
in following deed from Hawkins to Bagley]

Georgia, Sumter County:

This indenture made and entered into this the first day of September in
the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty-seven between
Daniel S. Bagley and Edward Hawkins all of the County and State
aforesaid witnesseth that I Daniel S. Bagley the regular? constituted
Trustee of the last Will and testament of Elizabeth B. Mann deceased did
put up and expose to public sale and the highest bidder at Americus
Sumter County between the legal hours of Sale lots of land Number one
hundred and nine and the East half of lot Number one hundred and Sixty
four both lying in the twenty eighty district of Sumter County
containing in the aggregate three hundred three and a quarter acres more
or less when Edward Hawkins being the highest bidder it was knocked off
to him at and for the price of two thousand one hundred and seventy five
dollars after ------- ------ this Indenture made and entered into the
day and year above mentioned and the parties above named of the first
part, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum above named to
me cash in hand paid at and before the Sealing and delivery of these
presents: The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Said Bagley,
Trustee as aforesaid hath ------ bargained and Sold unto the said
Hawkins his heirs executors and administrators all that parcel of land
above named with all the rights members and appurtenances to said lots
of land in any wise appertaining or belonging.

To have and to hold the said lots of land unto him the said Hawkins his
heirs Executors and administrators and assigns forever in fee simple. In
Witness whereof the said Daniel S. Bagley, Trustee as aforesaid has
hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
